Fred O. Stair, 76, of Brownwood went to his eternal home January 25, 2019.

Private family memorial services for Fred will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Fred was born on January 13, 1943, to Fred Albert Stair and Ellorine (Bonorder) Stair in Luling, Texas. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1961. After high school, he attended Texas Lutheran College in Seguin and graduated in 1965 with a degree in accounting. Fred married his soul mate, Shirley Wade, on February 4, 1964, in Luling, Texas.

Fred was a very devout Christian and a man of faith. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alvin and Big Bend Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School at Central Baptist in Luling and Big Bend Baptist Church.

He loved music and played in a band at an early age. Fred enjoyed going to rodeos. Most of all, Fred loved his family; he was a strong family man. He loved his grandchildren and supporting them in their sports and extracurricular activities.

Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Stair of Brownwood; daughter, Peggy Morales and husband Dr. Dave of Brownwood; son, Charles Stair and wife Valeri of Hutto; 5 grandchildren: David Morales, Jonathan Morales, Michael Morales, Brooke Pierce and husband Alan, and Samuel Stair; brother-in-law, Jerry Wade and wife Cheri of South Carolina; and sister-in-law, Nancy Riedel and husband Bob of Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred A. and Ellorine Stair; and 1 nephew, Brian Wade.
