Robert Glen Woodard Sr.

Robert Glen Woodard, Sr., age 84, of May passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with John Tunnell officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in May. Visitation will be Thursday  from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Robert was born to Emmitt and Clara Belle (Warren) Woodard on November 10, 1934, in Anson, Texas. Robert married the love of his life, Jo Ann Snell, on April 11, 1955, in Rankin. He was a Baptist.

He worked in the oil and gas industry in Texas and Louisiana for 54 years before retiring. Robert and his family moved between May and Sidney in 1997 to enjoy retirement. He enjoyed fishing, garage selling, and selling roadside produce. He loved playing with his dog, Little Bit and cat, Magnolia. Robert was a big family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Woodard of May; 4 children, Robert “Bobby” Woodard, Jr. of May, Sheila Snell and husband Charles of Waxahachie, Donald “Donny” Woodard of May, Barbara Knowles and husband Lance of Hico; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry Woodard and wife Evelyn of May, Jerry Woodard and wife Carolyn of Fairview, OK; and 1 sister, Shirley Ensley and husband Rodger of Arapahoe, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Clara Woodard; 3 sisters, Rosalee Gates, Oma Belle Vinson, and Ruby Holman; and 5 brothers, Kenneth Woodard, Emmitt Woodard, Jr., Jesse Woodard, Dean Woodard, and Norman Woodard.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of May Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
