High Speed Chase Ends in Wreck and Driver Gone

A high speed chase Saturday night ended in a crash in Coleman and the suspect fleeing on foot.  It was around 8:30 pm Saturday that a high speed chase entered Coleman County on Highway 283 from McCulloch County. A Coleman County Sheriff’s Deputy clocked the black SUV at 123 mph as it drove toward Santa Anna. Coleman County S.O., Santa Anna Police and Coleman Police were in pursuit as the driver traveled toward the City of Coleman at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the corner near the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge on the east side of town, the vehicle rolled and came to rest on its side with the driver nowhere to be found when officers arrived shortly after the wreck. Officers then fanned out to search for Justin Rojas, age 20. According to the Coleman Police Department Facebook page, Rojas is 5’6″ tall and weighs 110 pounds. The search late Saturday night was being conducted in a field and surrounding areas near the Coleman Animal Shelter and along Guadalupe Street.  Coleman Police ask that if you see Rojas, please call 911 and do not approach him.
