Doyle Leland Parnell

Doyle Leland Parnell, 85, of Bangs, died February 24, 2019, at Concho Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., February 28, 2018, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Kelly Crenshaw, pastor of New Beginnings Church in Brownwood, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Doyle Leland Parnell October 20, 1933, in Bangs, a son of Clyde Denson Parnell and Vera Harris Parnell. He grew up in Wink and graduated from Wink High School. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. On January 25, 1984 he married Mary Catherine Harper in Bangs. Doyle was retired from the City of Bangs Water Department. He loved to garden and always had a big garden for all of his family to enjoy. He also enjoyed raising and caring for his rose bushes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Parnell of Bangs; one daughter, Tracey Greenwood and husband Jerry of Bangs; grandchildren, Mark Greenwood of Austin, Jessica and husband Kory Malcolm of Weatherford, Don Leland Greenwood and wife Katie of Fort Worth.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Massey and Kama Jo Schermerhorn; a brother, Denson Parnell; and his best friend Ray Barnes.

Visitation will be February 27, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, located at 400 W. Pecan St. in Coleman.
