Cherry Pie Auction Raises $16,000 for Local Youth Sports

The annual KOXE/KBWD Cherry Pie Radio Auction was held Saturday morning, February 15, at the Adams Street Community Center in Brownwood.  Sports memorabilia, cheesecakes, a Lions corn hole game, tools, services and, of course, cherry pies were sold to the highest bidder.

According to David Withers, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Brownwood, the four local sports leagues that will divide the money equally are girl’s softball, boy’s baseball, Cen-Tex Soccer and Soccer for Fun.  “When I talk to other cities, other Parks and Recreation Directors throughout the state, when you tell them we can raise about $4,000 per league in a matter of three hours, with the help of KOXE, they go that’s unbelievable, how you can raise that much money,” Withers said.  The money raised during the auction helps cover expenses of the leagues and helps keep registration fees low to benefit parents and athletes.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THE AUCTION ANOTHER BIG SUCCESS!
