Brownwood Enjoys Increase in Sales Tax Rebates This Month

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $764.3 million in local sales tax allocations for July, 0.7 percent more than in July 2018. These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.

In Brownwood, there was a 9.50% increase in sales tax rebates over this same time last year.  A total of $433,884.79 for Brownwood, compared to $396,210.67 this time a year ago.

In Early, an 8.66% decrease in sales tax allocations, $88,099.45 this month, $96,459.38 this time a year ago.

In Bangs, a 4.87% decrease in sales tax allocations.  The amount this month was $10,925.38 compared to $11,485.25 this time a year ago.

Blanket is showing a 184 percent increase in sales tax revenue, up to $4,688.65 this month compared to $1,646.27 a year ago.

Coleman and Santa Anna both had lower sales tax revenue, a 6 percent reduction in Coleman, 5 percent drop in Santa Anna.  Net payment this period in Coleman is $64,397.83 compared to $69,058.03 a year ago.  Net payment this period in Santa Anna is $11,292.20 compared to $11,981.02 a year ago.

Goldthwaite had a 7.23% increase in sales tax revenue to $36,364.00 this payment period compared to $33,911.84 a year ago.

Comanche dropped 9.33% in sales tax rebates.  Net payment this period is $69,431.19 compared to $76,579.94 a year ago this month.

Brady sales tax rebates dropped 3.30% to $91,085.29 this period, compared to $94,198.78 one year ago.
