Brown County municipalities continue to see higher sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $817 million in local sales tax allocations for November, 5.4 percent more than in November 2017. For the first time in several months, all Brown County municipalities are seeing increases in monthly and year to date allocations. Bangs received a monthly allocation of $18,383, a 28.8% increase over last year’s during this same period of $14,319. Year to date, Bangs has received $137,904, a 2.68% increase over last year’s totals of $134,295. Blanket received a monthly allocation of $3,306, which is a 13.23% increase over last year’s total of $2,920. Year to date, Blanket continues to climb, receiving $26,513, a 11.14% increase of last year’s to date total of $23,854. Brownwood continues to rebound after several down months in 2017. Brownwood received a monthly allocation of $490,516, a 1.81% increase over last year’s amount during this same period of $481,791. Year to date, Brownwood has received nearly five million dollars, which is a huge jump compared to last year’s to date total of $4,678,777. Early continues to have strong showings. This month, Early received a payment of $111,764, an 11.03% increase over last year’s payment during this same time period of $100,654. Year to date, Early has seen a 7.40% increase over last year’s total. Last year’s total was $994,608, while this year is $1,068,284. These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers.
