Dan C. McGhee, 76 of Katy, formerly of Brownwood

Dan C. McGhee, age 76, of Katy and formerly of Brownwood, passed away Monday, January 20, at a Katy retirement home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 25, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 on Friday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Davis-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Brownwood Police Report

On January 17, 2019 at 14:51 hours, Brownwood PD Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Crestridge in reference to an assault. A male subject was arrested for Continuous Assault Against the Family.

On Friday January 17, 2020 officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Commerce in reference to found property. The item in question was placed on hold at the establishment. Information was gathered and a report was generated.

BETTY LOU CLAXTON, 76 of Princeton, Texas

Betty Lou (Langehennig-Shelton) Claxton (76) of Princeton, TX peacefully passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Betty was born on August 4, 1943 to Sutton and Ena (Loggins) Langehennig in Coleman, TX.

Betty made the decision long ago to donate her body for the use of science; arrangements were made with UT Southwestern Willed Body Program and she is now in their respectful care.  In lieu of a memorial service, Betty desired that individuals wishing to honor her life give their time and/or monetary donations to support the needs of senior citizens or cancer research.

Brownwood Gathers to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Community members, civic leaders, HPU athletic teams and elected officials joined together Monday morning to attend the 8th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. observance in Brownwood.  The ceremony began with the National Anthem being performed by the Brownwood High School band.  Members of ROC (Revitalizing Our Community) led the ceremony.  Mayor Stephen Haynes gave opening remarks.  There was special music followed by the keynote speaker, from the Brownwood Class of 1972, Val Rhodes.  Though he has spent his professional career as an educator and coach in the DFW area, he shared his love for Brownwood.  “I love everybody in […]

Police and Sheriff’s Department Reports

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the following calls recently.

On January 15, at 20:29 hours, a traffic stop was made for a defective headlight at Belle Plain Street.  During a consent search, 4.5 grams of methamphetamine was found.  A man was arrested for 2nd Degree Felony Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1, greater than 4 less then 200 grams.

Dolly Faye Covey 82, of Brady, Texas joined her Heavenly Father on Friday January 17, 2020 at a local hospital.

Visitation will be held Sunday January 19, 2020 6:00 -8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady.

Funeral Services will be held Monday January 20, 2020 at 2:00 Pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.

Funeral services for Delilah Partida Campos, age 38, of Bangs, will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery.
