Brownwood will welcome “The Royal Chef”, Darren McGrady, May 11 for a luncheon and a chance to hear him share ”Remembrances From a Royal Kitchen”.
McGrady cooked for the Royal Family in Britain for 15 years, cooking at Buckingham Palace, Sandringham House and Balmoral Castle as well as on the Royal Yacht Brittania on tours around the world.
Later he was chef to Princess Diana and her sons Princes William and Harry until the time of her tragic accident in 1997. He has also cooked for five US Presidents. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, several times on CNN’s Larry King Live, the Fox News Channel, BBC, CBC, MSNB, and Sky Television. He has cooked on the Today Show and CBS Early Show in New York.
Now a private chef here in Texas, he will appear as the guest of the Jr. Twentieth Century Book Club to present a luncheon of his recipes, which include many of Princess Diana’s personal favorites.
Chef McGrady will also share stories of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday this year. He will discuss some of her favorite foods over the course of the 63 years she has been on the throne.
