Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley has released crime statistics for the month of February. Corley said he offers these numbers as a way to ensure the department is transparent to the public. For the month of February, 35 assaults were reported with 14 cleared; four habitation burglaries were reported with once cleared; two building burglaries were reported with one cleared; 30 larceny thefts were reported with 18 cleared and two motor vehicle thefts were reported with one vehicle being located. Officers made five DWI arrests in February and responded to 39 accidents. Overall numbers have decreased from the month prior.
