Seven Lady Lions receive 6-4A all-district basketball honors

Seven members of the Brownwood Lady Lions basketball team earned accolades from the coaches of 6-4A.

First-team selections included juniors Hannah Deen and Icess Hall along with sophomore Trinity Roberts. Landing on the second team were junior Jade Morin and sophomore Nylah Hall. Receiving honorable mention were senior Kate Tindol and junior Lanie Johnson.

Superlative award winners in 6-4A were Co-Most Valuable Players Lily Melton and Alexis Rynders, both of Glen Rose; Offensive MVP Keira Matthews of Brock; Defensive MVP Abigale Bunt of Glen Rose; Newcomer of the Year Laney Hudson of Brock; Sixth Man of the Year Addison Treppa of Glen Rose; and Coach of the Year Ramsey Ghazal of Glen Rose.

Rounding out the first team were Savannah Hatcher and Jacee Riddle of Brock; BrookLynn Peterson and Aubrey Schuelke of Glen Rose; Katelyn McGehee of Graham; and Lucy Espinoza, Madi Rust and Brinley Hall of Stephenville.

The rest of the second team was comprised of Kylie Allen and Taegan Sanders from Brock; Rebecca McGregor and Briley Randall from Graham; Kahlea Samples, Emery Boswell and Aniya Richardson, from Mineral Wells; and Marin Copeland, Iza Vandalsem and Brooklyn Hardin from Stephenville.

Academic all-district honorees for the Lady Lions included Roberts, Johnson, Deen, Tindol, Icess Hall, Nylah Hall, Adyson Neel, Miranda Northcutt, Cassidy Brown, Rylie Schaffer and Talia Craff.

The Lady Lions finished the season with a 23-12 overall record, 5-5 in district, and advanced to the playoffs for the 15th time in 16 seasons under head coach Heather Hohertz.
