Dwight Leon Nanny, born on October 3, 1943, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in Coleman, Texas.
A proud graduate of Tolar High School in Tolar, Texas, Class of 1962, Dwight went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State College (now University), and later a Master’s in Banking from Southern Methodist University. In August of 1967, he married the love of his life, Terrye Williams, in Gouldbusk, Texas.
Dwight moved to Coleman County in 1972 and began teaching science and coaching at Mozelle High School alongside Charles Bryant. He later transitioned into banking at First Coleman National Bank, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2013. A man of faith, Dwight was a devoted member of Gouldbusk United Methodist Church.
Though not physically imposing, Dwight’s personality was larger than life and could fill the room. Known for his kindness and intelligence, he was always ready to drop everything for his family. He had a deep love for farming and animals, and always boasted that if he ever won the lottery, he’d be on a tractor for the remainder of his days.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Terrye Williams Nanny of Gouldbusk; his children: Dwin Nanny of Voss, Mayce Nanny Blackmon of Denton, and David Nanny of Denton; his brother Ralph Nanny of Tolar; and his cherished grandchildren: Jorie Nanny White, Cade Nanny, Kloie Nanny, Jayda Nanny, Avolyn Blackmon, and Harlyn Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Nanny of Tolar and mother Helen Nanny Sargent of Granbury.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Funeral services will follow immediately after the visitation with Dr. Mike Edington officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
Dwight’s warmth, generosity, and sly sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made in memory of Dwight to the Coleman Senior Center, P.O. Box 785, Coleman, Texas 76834.
