Meet James “Jay” Monson – Mid-Day Host

Born on August 5, 2001, Jay Monson didn’t choose to be KOXE’s youngest and most handsome DJ—it just kind of happened that way (a title he wears modestly if you can’t tell).

As a Texas A&M Aggie, Jay’s life took a challenging turn during his freshman year in 2020 when a drunk driver hit him on his way back to his dorm. The accident left him with injuries requiring the use of a wheelchair. However, through hard work and the help of a medical trial, Jay is steadily progressing toward his goal of walking again.

After returning to Brownwood, Jay earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Tarleton State University in 2024. He credits his support system, unwavering faith, and his bulldog, Buck, for everything he’s accomplished, including recent advancements in using a walker more efficiently. Today, Jay is grateful to be working at the radio station he grew up listening to, a place that has become a platform for his newfound passion: broadcasting.

Join Jay every weekday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Mid-Day with Jay—a show filled with great music, fun vibes, and a touch of Jay’s signature humor!
