Sue was born on September 21, 1949, in Brownwood, Texas, to Clyde and Willie (Mayes) Bishop. A 1968 graduate of Abilene High School, Sue began her career as a hairdresser. In 1970, she married and moved to Germany in 1972, where she welcomed her daughter, Tevyan, and had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe. In 1974, Sue returned to the United States, settling in Lawton, Oklahoma, where she welcomed her son, Sean. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1979.

Sue returned to Texas in 1980, beginning her career as a high school teacher at Copperas Cove High School. Teaching was her true calling, and she thrived in the high school setting, ultimately retiring in 2007. While at Copperas Cove, Sue met the love of her life, Glenn Hergenrader, in 1985. The couple married in 1991 at their home in Taylor, Texas. Together, they taught and coached in six communities across Texas over 15 years. Sue was a constant presence at Glenn’s games, supporting his teams with dedication and enthusiasm.

After retiring, Sue returned to her hometown of Brownwood in 2007, where she remained until her passing. She cherished being close to her older sisters and their families and enjoyed reconnecting with cousins and extended relatives. Sue’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion for genealogy, crafting, woodworking, painting, baking, sewing, needlework, and was an avid royal enthusiast.
