Tommy Hudson, a beloved member of the San Angelo community and a professional in the upholstery industry, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Coleman Healthcare Center. Born on May 31, 1945, in Portland, Oregon, he grew up in San Angelo, where he graduated high school before pursuing his passion for upholstery at a trade school.
Over the course of more than 50 years, Tommy owned and operated Hudson Upholstery on Bryant Boulevard in San Angelo. His craftsmanship and attention to detail brought life to many projects, including notable work on a private plane owned by the legendary Kenny Rogers.
A proud veteran, Tommy served in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and commitment to his community. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was an accomplished musician and songwriter. Tommy was a key member of a band known as Blind, Crippled, and Crazy, where he played guitar and shared his love for music with audiences, especially during weekends at Luckenbach, Texas. His creative spirit extended to the visual arts, where he found joy in drawing and painting.
Tommy is survived by two daughters, Christi Hudson of San Angelo and Erryn Deleon and husband Randy of Santa Anna. He cherished his six grandchildren: Kevin Gibbs, Levi Gibbs, SeAera Guerrero and husband Joey, Dylan Deleon, Alexa Deleon and husband Travis, and Savannah Wadsworth. Additionally, he leaves behind three great-grandchildren, David Gibbs, Wyatt Guerrero, and Makynna Guerrero. Tommy is also fondly remembered by his best friend, Mike Merrick of Kingsland; his brother-in-law, Danny Bishop and wife Mitzi of Midlothian; and sister-in-law, Bunny Fletcher and husband Tommy of Big Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Naomi Hudson; his son, Travis Wadsworth; and his brothers, Montey Hudson and Jack Hudson. The legacy of Tommy Hudson will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created. He will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege to know and love him.
At Tommy’s request no services will be held. Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
