Lois ‘Pickles’ Mae (Cooley) Allgood, 87

Lois “Pickles” Mae (Cooley) Allgood, 87, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024. A visitation with family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home Thursday, November 21, 2024. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, November 22, 2024 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery officiated by Todd King.

Lois was born September 23, 1937 in Brownwood, Texas to Clovis Curry Cooley Sr. and Mamie Dovie (Landrum) Cooley. She attended school in Brownwood and married Donald Dean Allgood Sr. in 1953 beginning a life together that blessed them with 10 children and many grandchildren. Lois spent her entire life with a career as a domestic engineer. She raised 10 children and 32 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Lois was a professional at so many things, she loved to hunt and fish with her husband and sons, gardening and being a master chef cooking with her girls. She raised cows, bird, goats, donkeys and chickens on her property and was very involved with grandchildren and great grandchildren with the animals. She loved spending time outdoors with them feeding the animals. Lois looked forward to taking a cruise and hitting the high seas with her family in tow. She attended High Mesa Cowboy Church and loved her church family. Cooking was always a pleasure and she truly enjoyed and took delight in contributing to the banquet dinners and fellow shipping with her sisters in Christ.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Brenda Denson and husband Jeffrey of Copperas Cove, Dovie Binion and husband Larry of Brownwood, Anna Lou Morris of Brownwood and Rosa Mae Christian and husband Mike of Canyon City, Co; sons, Donald Dean Allgood Jr. and wife Selina, Ronald Gene Allgood and wife Rachel, Angel Allgood, Jerry Wayne Allgood and wife Kristy, and Harold Ray Allgood and wife Julie all of Brownwood; 32 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, church family and many friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Dean Allgood Sr.; her daughter, Melissa Caine; granddaughters, Candice Shupp and Samantha Allgood; grandsons, Ronald Allgood Jr. and Tony Roberts.
