Ora Inez “Nezzie” Jones, age 85 passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 peacefully surrounded by her family. Her family will host a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 6th at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 7th at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Nezzie was born December 24, 1938 in Bridgeport, Texas to Harry Tilman Ivy and Maggie Corrine Cox. She married Charles (Red) Hardy Jones on September 19, 1957 and began a life together that blessed them with 4 children. Nezzie was a treasured member of Lakeside Christian Center and her commitment and devotion to God was special. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Nezzie enjoyed many years with her husband working the snack bar for Charity Bingo alongside Dennis and Wanda Thacker. She loved fishing, especially with her good friend Judy Stuckey. Nezzie worked many years at Dottie Dan Servicing Factory in Lamesa, Texas. She also worked for Lamesa ISD and Brownwood ISD. She loved her pet babies, Bee Bee, Tito and Pretty Bird.
Nezzie is survived by her children, Dennis Jones and wife Karon of Brownwood, Marcia Turner and husband John of Gorman, Debbie Day and husband Curtis of Brownwood and Buddy Jones and wife Donna of Lubbock; her sister Dora Faye Fleming of Louisiana; her grandchildren, Jesse Jones and wife Richelle, Scotty Jones, TJ Hubbard and wife Katelyn, Josh Hubbard, Cody Day and wife Caitlin, Chris Day and wife Misty, Tonya Hallmark and husband Ronnie, Brooke Haire and partner Jerri, Jennifer Durgeat and husband Nico, Denise Jones, Brad Riley, Kenny Landry, Scott Moore and Eric Jones; honorary grandchild, Crissy Woods and Michelle, special friend Nicole Morgan; 1 great-great grandchild; along with numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Tilman Ivy and Maggie Corrine Norman; her husband Charles (Red) Hardy Jones; siblings, Goldie Novela, Jencie Lee, Janice Marie, Jackie Joe and Cora Mae; grandson Robert Charles Jones, Bolton Layne Day and great granddaughters, Rachel and Breanna Hallmark.
