Betty Lou Nichols Traylor, 81

Betty Lou Nichols Traylor, 81, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, surrounded by family, after a long battle with Dementia.

Betty was born on March 27, 1943, in Bangs, Texas to Overton Harris Nichols and Bernice Polk Nichols.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry Douglas Traylor; children Jimmy Lee Traylor and his wife Eleise, Roy Glenn Traylor and Michelle Charisse Traylor; grandchildren Brandon Douglas Traylor, Brittany Danielle Henly and her husband David, and Mikenna Charisse Traylor. Additionally, she is survived by three great granddaughters, Aaliyah, Anzlee and Astrid, sisters-in-law Patricia Nichols and Clara Nichols and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Overton Harris and Bernice Nichols; brothers Bobby, Ed and Sam Nichols; sister-in-law Linda Chism and her husband Odell.

Betty completed her high school education at Brownwood High School where she was a member of the Drill Team.

Betty was a member of the Fairlanes Baptist Church in Borger, Texas for many years.

She enjoyed visiting with friends and family and never met a stranger. She sold Avon for over 10 years and so enjoyed all of the new friends she made during that time.

Betty and Jerry relocated back to their hometown of Brownwood in 1994, where she loved feeding their cattle and deer hunting.

The Traylor family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of those who have offered love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. While Betty will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Lake Hills Nursing home for the years of care they provided and to Debbie Hagood for her prayers and support during Betty’s final hours.

A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 5, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
