Wilma (Darlene) Courtney, 85

Wilma (Darlene) Courtney of Comanche Texas, passed away in Stephenville Texas on September 9, 2024, she was 85 years old. 

Darlene was born December 27, 1938 in Elk City Oklahoma to Elmer and Thelma Darnell. Darlene married the love of her life, Mack Elmo Courtney on August 6, 1965 in Pampa Texas. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Thelma Darnell, her sister Rayma Darnell and two brothers, Geary Darnell and Larry Darnell. 

Darlene is survived by her husband Mack Courtney and her four children: son Richard Courtney and Deborah Gunter, daughter and son in law Sherry and Mike Hay, son and daughter in law Keith and Belinda Courtney and daughter and son in law Mary and Rory Frazier. Darlene is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Jack Shaw. She is survived by her grandchildren: Lynda Parsons, Samantha Levy, Dustin Courtney, Abby Talton, Dylan Frazier and Caitlyn Frazier. 

Darlene was preceded in death by two grandsons: James Parsons and Christopher Frazier. Darlene was a faithful Christian and is survived by her church family of the DeLeon Church of Christ in DeLeon Texas. 

Darlene graduated from Pampa High School in 1957. 

Darlene served as a Life Member of the Texas PTA, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, she was also an NRA Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun instructor as well as a 4-H Club Leader. She also volunteered with CASA of Brown and Comanche Counties. 

Darlene will be cremated and inurned in the Downey Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor her in the near future with the date to be determined.
