Firefighters from throughout Brown County, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, are currently battling a wildfire that broke out shortly after 6 p.m. near the Muse Wildlife Area on County Road 478, north of FM 1467, east of US. Highway 183 and south of FM 1689.
As of 11:15 p.m. Monday, Texas A&M Forest Service estimates were the fire had spread to approximately 65 acres with 80 percent containment.
Fire departments from Blanket, May, Early, and North Lake were first toned out, along with equipment from Precinct 2 and Precinct 3.
Brownwood and Zephyr were later called for mutual aid, followed by Brookesmith, Winchell and Bangs.
The Texas A&M Forest Service was also on scene with both ground and air support.
