Clara Cravy was born March 30, 1921 to George and Violet Griffay Smith, in Lampasas County Texas. She was 103 years old when she died in the Glen Rose nursing Home on Aug. 2, 2024.
She and her twin brother Clarence were welcomed by 4 older siblings. Clarence died at the age of 18 month.
George was a mail carrier and moved his family to Goldthwaite for the mail route.
Clara graduated from Goldthwaite high school in the class of 1938. She married Jack A. Cravy on March 14, 1942 and moved to Houston, where he worked in the shipyards.
Jack joined the Navy in 1942 touring the south Pacific for 2 ½ yrs. He was a Seabee located with the Marines to build infrastucture on the islands.
Clara joined her husband in living in many places in Texas with his job at Lone Star Gas Company. He retired in 1983 after 33 years with the company. They built their retirement home out of a Old homestead in Goldthwaite, TX.
Jack died in June 2008. He is buried in an old cemetery Trigger Mountain Cemetery , adjutant to their property.
Clara and Jack had four children. Patricia Ann Cravy Fox (Kenneth); Jerald A. Cravy; Joe B Cravy (Sue) ; Jack Audie Cravy, 7 grandchildren; Tammy Whitten, Jamie Russo; James A. Cravy, Jason A. Cravy; Jade Cravy, Crystal Burgess, Keith Cravy. 9 great grand children. Jacob Cravy; Lauren Cravy; Rebecca Whitten; Jeremy Cravy, James D Cravy; Jeffrey Cravy, Rider Burgess, Raylee Burgess, Isbella Russo.
Clara was in the Mullin Quilting club for many years. She made over 100 quilts totally hand stitched and sewn. She was Methodist by faith.
Clara is predeceased by her twin brother Clarence, Parents, George and Violet Smith; grandson Thomas Cotton; Husband, Jack Cravy and daughter Patricia Fox.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home, Goldthwaite, Texas.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Trigger Mountain Cemetery, FM 1029 Mills County, Texas. Interment Trigger Mountain Cemetery, Mills County, Texas.
