Mary Frances Smith was born on August 3, 1930, in Coleman, Texas, and passed away on July 8, 2024, at the age of 93 in her hometown. She was a compassionate and dedicated individual who touched the lives of many with her kind heart and unwavering love for her family.

Mary Frances began her professional journey working as a nurse for Dr. Mann in 1949 before transitioning to the role of a devoted stay-at-home mom and homemaker after she and Wesley adopted their beloved daughter, Marilyn. She took immense pride in creating a loving and nurturing home for her family and cherished every moment spent caring for them.

Apart from her professional endeavors, Mary Frances found joy in cooking, baking, and enthusiastically supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events. Her culinary skills brought comfort to those around her, while her unwavering support for her family was a cornerstone of strength and love.

Mary Frances was a graduate of Talpa High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love and dedication to her family. On June 17, 1951, she married Leonard Wesley Smith in Coleman and remained a devoted member of the Elm Street Church of Christ throughout her life.

In celebrating Mary Frances’s life, we remember her as the backbone of her family, a beacon of love and support to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

Mary Frances is preceded in death by her parents, William Esley Anderson and Sallie Juanita Estes Anderson; her beloved husband, Leonard Wesley Smith; her daughter, Marilyn McKinley; as well as two brothers, William Anderson and Ronald Anderson.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Jayton McKinley and his wife Amber of Coleman, and Sallie Smith of Coleman, along with her adoring great-grandchildren, Nick, Blaze, Lexi, Leah, Tanner, Brooklyn, and Kinsley. Mary Frances also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral serviced celebrating her remarkable life at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Chad Anders officiating. A private interment will be in the Brown Ranch Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
