An artisan fashion show will bring a new facet of art to the July 4th First Thursday reception, 5-7 pm, at the Art Center, 215 Fisk St., in Downtown Brownwood. This event is free and open to the public.

Textile artist Mary Green Engle, Brownwood Art Association Artist of the Year, will be featured in a fun and zany fashion show beginning at 5:30. Her pieces will be modeled by members of the BAA and the Fiber and Textile Arts group. Master of Ceremonies will be Bruce Engelman.

The fashion show is a new feature for the Art Center, and is part of a three-artist exhibit on display through July 25.  The works of multi-medium artist Charlotte Garrett Cooper and artisan potter Mike Lewis will also be on display at the annual Artist of the Year exhibit.  Exhibit Coordinator Donna Lewis says “The combination of different media in this exhibit promises to make it an exciting show.”

Cooper is known for her unique and varied assemblage art, often whimsical, but sometimes serious and thought-provoking.   Lewis makes raku pottery, in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Bold, metallic, and shiny glazes on some pieces contrast with others that are subtle and subdued.

Gallery hours are weekdays, 2-6 pm.  Admission to the gallery is free
