Dave Campbell’s Texas Football released its preseason Class 4A Division I Top 10 Friday afternoon, and the Brownwood Lions come in at No. 7 in the poll.

The Lions’ District 4-4A Division I rival Stephenville is ranked No. 1 in the state, followed by No. 2 Tyler Chapel Hill, No. 3 Frisco Panther Creek, No. 4 Celina, No. 5 Kilgore, No. 6 San Antonio Davenport, the Lions, No. 8 Decatur, No. 9 Austin LBJ, and No. 10 Bay City.

Brownwood posted a 12-2 record last season and reached the 4A Division I Region I championship game.

The Lions and Stephenville will square off Nov. 1 at Stephenville. Brownwood will also face Lampasas, Burnet and Marble Falls in district competition.

Brownwood opens the season on Aug. 30 at home against 5A Division II Abilene Wylie.

Since moving to Region I in 4A Division I, the Lions own a 22-5 record over two seasons.
