Gary Grabow, 77 of Brownwood, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. A Mass will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 700 Main St, Brownwood, TX at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2024. A Military Graveside will be held in Dallas Texas at a later date.
Gary was born August 28, 1946 in Alexandria City, Minnesota to Gilbert Marvin Grabow and Calista Cassidy (Wedemier). Gary graduated from high school in Winona, MN and graduated with a Bachelor degree from Baylor University. In 1968, Gary joined the United States Marine Corp and went into OCS where he became a helicopter pilot. Gary really enjoyed his time in the military and overseas. He would have made a career of it if that option would have been available to him. Gary returned to civilian life after 6 years of service in the Marine Corps and became a Real Estate Agent living in Austin and Houston area before meeting his beloved Judy Lee Davis at Fort Worth, Texas in 1988. Judy and Gary were married in 1994 and moved to Comanche, Texas. Gary went to work for FEMA and found a calling that he enjoyed and excelled at. Gary and Judy both worked for FEMA and served during the time of Hurricane Katrina. Gary was an avid hunter, loved gun sports such as Skeet and Trap shooting with his wife, Judy, and was also a big college sports fan where his number one team was Baylor. He loved life, their hobbies and spending time with the children and grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Grabow of Early, Texas; son, Gary Grabow II of Alpine, Texas; daughters, Holly and husband, Giovanni Magazzino of Sermontea, Italy & Stacy and husband, E.J. Schmid of Melissa, Texas; sister, Diana Wickes of Spokane Washington; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Calista Wedemier Grabow and Gilbert Marvin Grabow; and a sister, Gail Moss.
