Evelyn Caroll Tyler went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2024, surrounded by her close family. Although she was born in Brownfield, Texas, she graduated high school in Cross Plains, where she met the love of her life, Jerry Tyler. Evelyn met Jerry in town, where she worked at Odoms Café. In school, Evelyn enjoyed playing sports, namely basketball. Evelyn and Jerry married on July 10, 1972. Evelyn and Jerry had two sons, Eric Tyler and Mark Tyler.  They moved to Brownwood in 1981, where they established their roots. Evelyn worked as a hairdresser for years until she purchased Beacon Electric in Brownwood. Beacon Electric was later purchased by Cain Electric, CED, where she worked until she retired. Evelyn loved to garden, work outside, plant flowers, paint, make decorations for events, volunteer for fundraising events, cook, bake, hang out with family, play with grandkids, and so on. Evelyn was a jack of all trades and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Evelyn was the most selfless person we know and never let anyone go without.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry Tyler; her son, Eric Tyler, and wife, Amy Tyler; her son, Mark Tyler, and wife, Traci Tyler; her grandchildren, Hallie Steele, and husband, Blake Steele, Tyson Tyler, Lexi Tyler, Luke Tyler, Alexis Ray, Ethan Tyler, Riley Richards, and Ruston Richards; and great-grandson, Beau Steele. She is also survived by her brothers, Jesse Kitchens and Walter Kitchens, and her sisters-in-law, Debbie Reed, Lynda Edington, and Joyce Jones. Extended family members and lifelong friends also survive Evelyn.

Evelyn will be greatly missed and remembered for her witty personality and caring heart. Her passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.

Services for Evelyn Tyler will be held at First Baptist Church in Cross Plains on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
