The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday afternoon:

On Sunday, Feb. 18 at approximately 9 a.m. Officers with the Brownwood Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 200b block of Bluffview Drive regarding a report of a deceased person. Officers arrived on scene and began an investigation, then contacted the Criminal Investigations Division for assistance.

The investigation became a criminal investigation which ultimately led to the arrest of 35-year-old Troy Lee Daniel, Jr. of Brownwood. Daniel was booked into the Brown County Jail on a charge of murder and bond was set at $550,000.

The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Nancy Jasmine Sanchez of Bangs.  An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Harold Hogan. 

This investigation impacts many citizens and families, and our sympathy is extended to all of those involved.

Additionally, this is a very complex, active, investigation involving the Brownwood Police Department, Texas Rangers and 35th District Attorney’s Office personnel.  No additional information will be provided at this time.
