Kurtis Francis Meyer, 88, of Blanket, Texas passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. Funeral services to honor and remember Kurtis Francis Meyer will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church on December 19, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Kurtis will be laid to rest in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairmont, Oklahoma, on December 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather to pay their final respects to a man who touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit.

Kurtis was born on August 6, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, to the late parents August H. and Marie C. Meyer. He was raised and educated in Fairmont graduating from Garber High School in 1953. Kurtis was a loving husband and uncle, devoted friend and a respected member of his church and community.

Kurtis dedicated his life to the oilfield exploration industry, where he made significant contributions through his unwavering commitment and hard work. Kurtis possessed a wealth of knowledge and expertise that he acquired through years of hands-on experience. He was highly regarded by his colleagues and peers in the field.

Outside of work, Kurtis found joy in his close-knit community and his membership at the Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood, Texas. It was there that he found solace and spiritual guidance, forging lifelong friendships among the congregation. Kurtis actively participated in church activities and contributed his time and efforts to support the church’s mission.

On October 21, 1961, Kurtis married France LaJune Reed, and together they celebrated more than six decades of love, companionship, and shared adventures. Their bond was a testament to their commitment and devotion to one another.

Kurtis is survived by his nephew, Marty (Shannon) Meyer of Enid; grandnephew, Payton Meyer, grandniece, Morgan Meyer both of Enid; sister, Anita Meyer of Oklahoma City.

Kurtis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances Meyer, brother Adrian Meyer and grandnephew Patrick Meyer.

Kurtis Meyer’s family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to Gayland and Billie Schrank, Gary and Kathryn Roberts, Grace Lutheran Church and Solaris Hospice for their kindness and commitment to Kurtis and his family.

In honoring Kurtis Francis Meyer’s legacy, let us remember his unwavering dedication to his work, his deep-rooted faith, and the love he shared with his family and community. He will forever remain in our hearts, and his memory will continue to inspire us all.
