Sergio Alberto Vazquez Cardona was born January 19, 1992 to J. Concepcion Vazquez Diaz and Martha Alicia Cardona Aguilera in Zaragoza, Mexico. He passed away on December 8, 2023 at the age of 30.
Sergio was raised in Goldthwaite, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 2012. He loved playing football for the Eagles and was an All-American state lineman. Sergio married his soulmate, Amy LeAnn Koon, on October 30, 2021 in Brownwood, Texas. Their love created one child, Zayden Abner. Sergio was an amazing father. He loved being with his family and playing with Zayden. He enjoyed teaching him how to use tools and build things, calling his son “daddy’s little helper.” He was Zayden’s biggest fan and encourager. Amy and Sergio loved to do things together as a family, like going on picnics in the park and watching Zayden explore and learn about all the things he encountered. Sergio derived great pleasure in the outdoors, working with his hands, and football. More than anything, he cherished making memories with the people he loved.
Sergio is survived by his wife and son, his parents, siblings: brothers – Jose Vazquez and wife Guadalupe, Eluid Vazquez and wife Alysha, and sister Mariaisabel Dominguez and husband Luis; his beloved nieces and nephews – Enrique, Lorenzo, Sofia, Ximena, and Jacqueline; and his grandmother Isabel Aguilera Escamilla.
He was preceded in death by his father’s parents, Maria del Patroncinio Diaz and Eucebio Vazquez, his maternal grandfather, Dolores Cardona, and Lorenzo Lara.
The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support.
Memorial Service will be held December 17th at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church, 1319 Fisher Street, Goldthwaite, Texas. You are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life in Sergio’s honor, immediately following the service, at the Goldthwaite Pavilion located at 1219 Fisher Street.
