Funeral services for Carolyn Fox Yeilding, 73, of Brownwood will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Hoskinson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Yeilding passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born April 14, 1950, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Hershal and Wanda (Flaherty) Fox. She grew up in Indiana and various small towns throughout Arkansas. She graduated from Benton High School in Benton, Arkansas, in 1968. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Garry, on December 21, 1968. She then attended and graduated from Howard Payne University as a member of Beta Gamma Phi National Honor Society, balancing a full course load while raising a newborn. She was so proud of the fact that she and Garry raised three children who are all college graduates. She taught high school English for 33 years in Bangs and Brownwood. Education was always a focal point in her life. Mrs. Yeilding took great pride in helping students graduate, starting the drill team in Bangs, and taking students to state in debate.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Hershal and Wanda Fox; nephew Jason Fox, and niece Amanda Fox.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Garry of nearly 55 years; daughter Shanna Nichols and husband George of Frisco, daughter Staci Cadena and husband Paul of Brownwood, and son Colin Yeilding and wife Kami of Cleburne; grandchildren Cameron Nichols and wife Savannah, Aimee Gamboa and husband Juan Pablo, Caleb Schoen, Sidney Cadena, Carli Schoen, Sloan Cadena, Caiti Schoen, Madyson Yeilding, Scarlett Yeilding, and Zoie Yeilding; great-grandchildren Allison Nichols and Jayce Gamboa; siblings Janet Gutheridge, Larry Fox, Terry Fox and wife Lorrie, Debbie Tully and husband Dale, and Vicki Wheeler; and 13 nieces and nephews.
