Rhonda Rainey, 65, of Brownwood

Rhonda Rainey, age 65, of Brownwood passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Her family will host a visitation on Saturday, November 25th from 6 to 8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Rhonda was born on September 28, 1958 in Frankfort, Indiana to Wilson and Margaret DeVoss. Rhonda married Freddie Rainey on August 11, 1997 in San Antonio, and they began a life together that blessed them with 22 years. She loved family BBQ’s, traveling, fishing, along with her Coors Light and Marlboro Red Special Selects. Rhonda loved her job as a CNA. She worked at Visiting Nursing for years, and enjoyed working at Oak Ridge Manor for 21 years. She was a caring person, and when you met her, you felt loved. Rhonda loved life and had such a contagious smile and laugh, that could make anyone smile at any given moment.

Rhonda loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and not to forget her dogs and cats. Rhonda was the best sister every and loved all of her sisters dearly. She was also the best mom ever, never put anything ever in front of her kids. Always drilling love, kindness, compassion in all her children, taught us don’t be like others, give your heart and don’t hate nobody, because that means they won. Keep your heart pure. To anyone who knew our Memaw was to know a strong hearted woman that had a heart of gold. We’re sure gonna miss you Memaw, me and the kids love you so much, never goodbye always, “See you later.”

Rhonda is survived by her daughters, Larale McNew and husband David Morgan, Jackie McNew of Brownwood, TX; sisters, Teresa Graves and husband James, and Debbie Alley of Brownwood, TX; brother Leon DeVoss of Indianapolis, IN; 5 grandchildren, Kendale, Keionna, Kyleigh, Julius and DaAndre; 5 great grandchildren, Changuz, Da’Quayln, Anylaa, JaMari and Kyngsten; life long friend of 42 years, Georgeanne Lopez and husband Alfred.

She is preceded in death by her husband Freddie Rainey; her parents, Wilson H DeVoss and Margaret Dean DeVoss; sister Marvella Rodriguez.
