Keith Kermitt Marshall, age 66, of Blanket, TX passed away on Friday, Oct 20, 2023.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 at Heartland Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Salt Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Salt Creek Cemetery.
Keith was born on March 8, 1957 in Crystal City, TX to Kermitt Marshall and Barbara Smith Marshall and moved to Brownwood in 1970. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1975. On June 14, 1979 he married Sherri Forbess and the Lord blessed them with three children. He made a home for his family in the Salt Creek area and was a member of the Salt Creek Baptist Church, where he was very involved with many areas of the church, but especially building projects. Keith worked as a motorcycle mechanic in Brownwood for 15 years before buying Roberson Rent-All from Raymond and Marie Roberson in 1991. In 2011 he sold that business to his oldest son and daughter-in-law and retired but never sat still. His family would all agree that there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or figure out. In addition to his love of motorcycling he was also a private pilot, and he and Sherri got to experience many wonderful and exciting adventures traveling together in the air and on the ground. One of his biggest accomplishments was building his own airplane and flying it to the backcountry of Idaho this past summer. Keith was widely gifted and had a vast library of skills which he held with open hands in the fear of God, always ready to serve and solve for the sake of others. For many years he volunteered with Angel Flight, flying patients for medical appointments in Texas and New Mexico, and more recently he had started volunteering at the Christian Women’s Job Corp teaching automobile maintenance. In 2012, he began serving with the Texas Baptist Men Church Builders and worked on 35 church building projects across Texas and Colorado and was preparing to head a new building project at Salt Creek Baptist Church.
But his pride and joy was his wife, Sherri, his kids and grandkids. As 3 John 1:4 says, Keith had no greater joy than hearing and knowing that his sons and daughters-in-law were walking in the truth, and he trusted that the Lord would call his grandchildren to Himself. He loved helping his sons with whatever project they were involved in and was such a godly example to them as a husband. He also took great joy in teaching his grandsons how to do things in the shop, including helping him with building the airplane. Additionally, he served as “Light and Sound” manager of backyard dance parties for the granddaughters. He also really enjoyed teaching the two oldest grandchildren how to drive a standard transmission vehicle and planned to teach each one that same skill.
Keith is survived by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Sherri Marshall of Blanket, his oldest son and daughter-in-law, Van and Cindy Marshall of Brownwood, younger son and daughter-in-law, Cole and Patricia Marshall of Pearland, and his seven precious grandchildren: Isaiah, Addison, Caedmon, and Ellington Marshall of Brownwood and Paxton, Linden, and Hollin Marshall of Pearland. He is also survived by three sisters, Suzanne Coffman and husband Jimmy of Early, Laura West of New Braunfels, Jane Odom and husband Zane of Jasper, and his mother Barbara Bex and husband Jean-Pierre Bex of San Antonio, as well as a host of other family members and friends that depended on him for so much.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Gayle Marshall, a sister, Beverly Simpson, his father and step-mother, Kermitt and Jean Marshall, and a niece Amelia Coffman.
Keith loved his Lord Jesus and was always in awe of the grace and forgiveness extended to him by his Savior. He would not want you to let this day go by without experiencing that same grace and forgiveness.
