Linda Arlene Blauvelt, age 82, of Rochelle, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023 at her home in Rochelle. Linda was born February 22, 1941 in Brownwood, Texas to Arvil B. Bush and Avis (Cunningham) Bush. She grew up in Mason and McCulloch Counties and graduated from Rochelle High School in 1959. She attended one year of business school and obtained her real estate license. She married John Lloyd Blauvelt in June of 1960 in Cranfills Gap, Texas.
Linda had a passion for fashion and style. She owned and operated Merle Norman Cosmetics and Clothing Store in Brady for 30 years and for many years donated her time and cosmetology skills to the contestants of the Miss Heart of Texas Pageant.
Linda had a servant’s heart and was an asset to her community. She was an active member of the Rochelle Baptist Church. Linda was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. In her younger years she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was voted Beta Sigma Phi Sweet Heart. She had a close-knit group of friends who were not afraid to take their heels off & run a foot race at G. Rollie White Race Track. (Linda won the race!) Linda was an accomplished chef, enjoyed ranching with her husband, loved animals, antiques, and gardening.
Funeral services for Linda Arlene Blauvelt will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Kenneth Barr officiating. Interment will follow at Rochelle Cemetery in Rochelle.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Friends may view Linda’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign her online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.
Pallbearers will be Shane Benson, Rich Ramseyer, Luke Ramseyer, Mark Laudon, Craig Williams and Kyle Moseley.
Linda is survived by son Rodney Blauvelt and wife Lisa of Rochelle, Texas; brother Blayne Harris and wife Deanne of Lake Ivy, Texas; sister Dianne Benson and husband James of Sonora, Texas; grandchildren Von Blauvelt, Keri Stuart and husband Bo and David Cook; great-grandchildren Bryer Stuart, Kaylynn Cook and Keaton Cook and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant brother.
