Gary Twiford, age 73, of Brownwood, TX passed away peacefully in his home 29 September 2023 after battling heart problems for several years.
Visitation for Gary will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday, October 3, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Funeral Services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, October 4 at Life Church in Brownwood
He was born 16 November 1949 in Brownwood, TX to the late David “Sarge” Twiford and Wanda L. Twiford. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. In the summer of 1963, Gary met the love of his life Patricia Piper when she moved to Brownwood from San Angelo, TX although he didn’t know she was to be his wife until July 1970. From there Gary and Patricia embarked on a life filled with laughter, togetherness, and love. Their union produced two children. Lundy D. Twiford, and Jannetta D. Lingle. They raised their family in Brownwood and Early, TX and sent them out to the world with the example and knowledge of a true loving relationship. Gary and Patricia believed wholeheartedly in their love and their faith in the one true living God. Gary served Life Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Royal Ranger Commandant, Worship Leader and Mentor for the for the entirety of his life. Faith, Family and Love were the hallmarks of Gary’s life. He constantly lived his life in a state of gratitude for all the blessings he received.
He gave back to the local community as President of Kiwanis, President of the Board of Realtors and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Gary also worked for GTE until he retired at the age of 50. He then embarked on a career as a full-time Real Estate agent working with Mark Campbell and Associates until his retirement in 2021. He was known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and would likely break into song if given the chance. Gary was a friend to all and was willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Gary is survived by the love of his life, Patricia, son Lundy wife Kelly-Jo, grandson Derrin, granddaughter Ashlee husband Hayden, granddaughter Kaitlyn, granddaughter Savannah. Also survived by his daughter Jannetta Lingle husband Greg, grandson Garrick wife Hannah, great granddaughter Allie, granddaughter Brenna. Gary’s surviving siblings are his brother David L. Twiford wife Deborah Twiford, and Don Twiford wife Vicki Twiford. His extended family includes a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Wanda Twiford.
