David Wayne Cogburn, 38, of Rising Star, passed away, Saturday, September 16, 2023. He was born August 15, 1985 in Abilene. David was a loving and caring individual who cherished his family and friends above all else. He was always the first to lend a helping hand and had a deep passion for motorcycles and the oilfield.
David’s career in the oilfield was his true calling. He loved everything about it and had the opportunity to work in some extraordinary locations. His dedication and enthusiasm for his work were unmatched.
When he wasn’t working, David could often be found riding his beloved motorcycle or tinkering with it, ensuring it was in perfect condition.
His passion for motorcycles was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for the open road.
David will be deeply missed by his mother and step-father, Cheryl and Donald Goodman, of Rule; sons, Tyler David Wayne Cogburn of Needville and Randall Williams of Brownwood; daughter, Hazel Marie Cogburn of Abilene; grandmothers, Linda Green, of Stamford, and Shelly McEwen of Beeville, Michigan; sister, Lisa Cogburn, of Magnolia; aunts and uncles, David and Sondra McEwen of Stamford, Allen and Julie Davis of Buffalo Gap, Moe and Inette Green of Alpache Junction, Mark and Lara Green of New Mexico, Tonya Cogburn of Abilene, Laura McEwen of Michigan, and Amber and Doyle Crawford of Michigan, will hold his memory dear.
David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wayne Cogburn, of Rising Star, as well as his grandfathers, Richard Green and Terry McEwen, and his aunt, Jennifer Green, and uncle, Robert McEwen.
David’s educational journey began at Stamford Primary School, where he laid the foundation for his future. He later attended Rising Star High School, further shaping his knowledge and skills.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Friday, September 29th, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Church in Stamford, with Robert Wingrove officiating.
