Glenn Everett Proffit, Sr., age 84, passed from his Earthly body to join our Lord and Savior on July 30, 2023.
A visitation will be held on August 5, 2023 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, TX from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
Glenn was born on November 8, 1938, in Poteet, Texas to Glenn Willard and Mamie Dell Proffit. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Corpus Christi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He later earned his certification in Special Education as well. He taught at several school districts throughout his career. Glenn also owned a Newspaper Distributorship for over 25 years in the Kerrville and San Antonio areas. In the early 80s he also sold Insurance at Farmers. Glenn never met a stranger and always loved helping others.
Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Shirlee Ann, on September 26, 1959. She was the love of his life for 62 years. In 2010 he became her round the clock caregiver until her passing in 2022. His love, care, and devotion to her was an inspiration and true testament to his vows.
Glenn was a member of Gateway Church in Grand Prairie. He loved decorating for the holidays and always went way overboard. He enjoyed gardening, eating Mexican food, bowling, and traveling. One of his biggest joys was buying & surprising Shirlee with gifts, as well as spending time with family.
Glenn, also known as Papa to all, is survived by his three children, Glenn Proffit Jr., wife Stella, Julie Ann Evans, husband Thomas, and Matthew Proffit, husband Joe Bolanos; grandchildren, Christopher Proffit, Brittney Boyd, Christina Proffit, and TJ Evans; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Elijah, Bree, and Brynn; sister-in-law Melissa Schneider and husband Rick; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Shirlee Ann; his parents, Glenn Willard and Mamie Dell; in-laws, Donald and Lurline Manville; and sister, Joan Dell Cooper.
Those that wish to make memorial donations may do so in Glenn’s memory and honor to St. Jude or the American Heart Association.
