Linden Ferrel Moore, lovingly known as “PeeWee,” peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the age of 73.

A cherished member of the community, PeeWee’s memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to allow loved ones to gather and pay their respects.

Born on May 29, 1950, in Leander, Texas, PeeWee was the beloved son of Elvin Franklin and Loyce Elene Moore. He completed his education at McCallum High School in Austin, Texas, before embarking on a remarkable journey with the US Army. He served with distinction in Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 11th ACR (Blackhorse Regiment), earning accolades including 1 silver star, 2 bronze stars with valor, 3 Purple Hearts, and numerous letters of commendation. PeeWee held a deep affection for his Blackhorse brothers and remained steadfastly connected to his comrades over the years.

Following his military service, PeeWee contributed his talents to the University of Texas in Austin, where he dedicated over three decades to working on and maintaining a cutting-edge cold-water air-conditioning system for the institution. It was during this time that he forged lasting friendships and cherished relationships with those around him.

Upon retirement, PeeWee sought solace in Mills County, where he found joy in nurturing his beloved ranch. He reveled in his passion for hunting and fishing at Lake Proctor, all while immersing himself in classic black and white western films. A devoted Longhorn fan, he enthusiastically cheered on the team with a resounding “Hook’em Horns.”

PeeWee’s memory will be cherished by his brother, Wayne Moore; friends, Allen Rogers and wife Valerie of Mullin, Texas; Kevin Johnson and wife Sue of Georgetown, Texas; his furry and loyal companion, Maggie; along with numerous cousins, two nieces, and a multitude of friends who have been touched by his warm heart and kind spirit.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents; and brother, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and camaraderie that will forever resonate with those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local American Legion or to the American Legion Post 289 in Goldthwaite, located at 50 US-183 Hwy, Goldthwaite, TX 76844.
