Dave Campbell’s Texas Football website on Thursday revealed its Class A Division I preseason Top 10, and the perennial power May Tigers again find themselves ranked among the elite teams in the state.

May, coming off an 8-2 campaign and postseason trip in 2022, is the preseason No. 8 team in Class A Division I.

The rest of the Top 10 features defending state champion Westbrook (14-1) at No. 1 trailed by No. 2 Gordon (12-1), No. 3 Abbott (14-1), No. 4 Happy (12-2), No. 5 Jonesboro (11-2), No. 6 Knox City (9-3), No. 7 Rankin (11-2), No. 9 Medina (11-1) and No. 10 Buena Vista (7-5).

The Tigers will host Jonesboro in their regular season finale on Oct. 27, which could determine the District 14 champion. May also has a home date with Knox City on its slate for Sept. 8 – the third game of the season.

The closest team to the BrownwoodNews.com coverage area in the Class A Division II Top 10 is Cherokee, which comes in at No. 7 after an 11-1 campaign in 2022. Oglesby is ranked No. 2 in Class A Division II and will host May on Sept. 29.
