Becky Watson, age 72, long-time resident of Coleman, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at an Arlington hospital.

The family will host a visitation on Wednesday, June 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.

Service will be held on Thursday, June 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion, 1600 E. 9th Street, Coleman, with her brother-in-law,  Kyle Foster,  officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Rebecca Lynn Smith, but she was always known as Becky, on February 8, 1951, in Lubbock, to Alvin and Joann Buford Smith. She grew up in Coleman and attended school here, graduating in the Class of 1969.  On May 24, 1969, one day after graduating from high school, she married Marlie Watson, in Coleman.  They were married almost 46 years at the time of his death on May 21, 2015. Becky was a legal assistant for Johnson, Jones and Autry Law Firm.  She later worked for Steve Autry and Heath Hemphill. About a year after her husband’s death, she moved to Eastland to be close to her daughter, son-in-law,  and granddaughters.  After moving there, she began a new career as a Health Aide for Eastland Independent School District, where her granddaughters attended school.  She was known as “Meemaw” to her granddaughters and the kids at Eastland ISD.

She attended Community Baptist Church in Coleman for many years.  She loved her granddaughters and enjoyed being with them and watching them grow and thrive.  She was also a dog mom to Bella and Gigi. She is deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and David Foster of Eastland; three granddaughters, Skye Hosch and fiancée Devin Taylor, Brynna Foster and Landri Foster; three sisters, Connie Driskill and husband Gary of Coleman, Cathy Pickett of Coleman, Penny Foster and husband Kyle of Cross Plains; three nieces and two nephews and several great nieces and great nephews; her precious pups, Bella and GiGi.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
