Man From Early Dies in Friday Morning Wreck

A man from Early, Texas died as a result of a two-vehicle accident early Friday morning in Brown County.

Francis Thomas Montagna, 79, of Early, was pronounced dead at 3:45 am by Justice of the Peace Doug Hurt.

According to the accident report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at 3:42 am Friday, May 19 on Farm to Market 2126, 1.6 miles east of Brownwood.

Montagna was the driver of a 2014 Ford Fusion passenger car and was traveling south on FM 2126.  In a curve of the roadway, he failed to operate the car in its lane, crossing the center stripe and striking a 2023 Freightliner truck tractor, towing a 2018 Great Dane box style semi-trailer, head-on.

The driver of the truck was Abdurahman Hussein, Mohamed, 32, of South Sioux City, Nebraska.  A passenger in the truck was Muhumud Alasow Mahad, 28, of South Sioux City, Nebraska.  The report shows no injuries to the occupants of the truck.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper John Hoy, Texas Highway Patrol, Brownwood with assistance by Sergeant Michael Thomas, Trooper Cristobal Delgado and Trooper Travis Hounshell, Texas Highway Patrol, Brownwood and by Trooper Brandon Smedley of Eastland.
