PVRW to Host Meet and Greet for Ward 4 City Council Candidates

The Pecan Valley Republican Women issued the following press release Wednesday:

There will be a special election for the Brownwood City Council vacant seat for Ward 4 on June 10, 2023. All Brownwood Citizens are eligible and encouraged to vote.

The Pecan Valley Republican Women will be hosting a Candidate Meet and Greet at their monthly meeting for the 2 candidates running. This will be held on Thursday May 18, 2023 at 6 pm. at the Brownwood Country Club.  The public is cordially invited to attend and get to know the two candidates that are running for this seat, they are: Jim Byars and Draco A. Miller.

Mr. Jim Byars was born and raised in Brownwood, graduated from Early, elected Football Captain, and made first team all-district.  Byars attended Howard Payne University and then became a police officer for the City of Brownwood and served and retired as a Texas Dept of Public Safety Officer.  Byars was elected as Brown County Constable for 3 terms and served two terms as School Board member at Zephyr.  Byars also serves as a charter member of the Brown County Community Education Advisory Council.

Draco A. Miller was born and raised in Brownwood, TX, attending the BISD school system.  While in middle school and High School, Draco was a standout athlete, excelling in Football and Powerlifting. During his high school days, Draco was a part of other extracurricular activities including Band and Choir. When he wasn’t playing the saxophone, singing, lifting weights, or playing football, he found time to be a part of various leadership and civic clubs on campus. After high school, Draco headed west to New Mexico to attend Eastern New Mexico University on a football scholarship. There he was blessed to win two LSC Conference Football Championships. Draco graduated with a Bachelor of History Education and in 2006 He graduated with a Master of Science degree in Sports Admin. Draco is Owner and CEO at Draco’s Janitorial & Auto Detailing.

Each candidate will be given about 15 minutes to speak about who they are, their accomplishments, skills and why they feel they are the best candidate to fill the position.  Time permitting a few questions will be permitted from the attendees.  Both candidates will be available after the program to answer personal questions you may have for them.

Early voting is Tuesday May 30 to Friday June 2, 8 am-5 pm, Monday and Tuesday June 5 & 6 from 7am to 7 pm.   Election day is June 10th.
