In Sweetwater on Wednesday night, the May Tigers were awarded the gold glove trophy for the Area Championship thanks to two victories over Westbrook. May was able to win both games Wednesday to claim the best of three series by scores of 12-1 and 15-5.

May – which has scored 51 runs in its four playoff games – will move on to face either District 6 champion Ira or District 7 runner-up Gorman in the regional semifinals next weekend. Ira and Gorman square off a three-game series at McMurry University Thursday and Saturday.
