Aurelia “Shorty” Ramirez, age 81, of Brady, Texas passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas. Shorty, as she was known by to family and friends, was born November 12, 1941, in Melvin, Texas to Edward Sandoval, II and Juanita (Torres) Sandoval. She grew up in Melvin and was a 1961 graduate of Melvin High School. She loved sports and was a basketball star. She married Felix Ramirez on August 24, 1962, in Melvin. She worked for the Heart of Texas Pharmacy for many years. She then worked as a teacher’s aide at Northward Elementary School for 19 years before retiring. She enjoyed sports her entire life and was a loyal Brady Bulldog, Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan. She also enjoyed arts and crafts. She was a member of the Ladies Sorority in Brady. She had a green thumb and could grow almost anything. She loved taking care of her roses and cooking. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Guadalupanas. She was a lifelong resident of Brady.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Aurelia “Shorty” Ramirez will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 4, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady with Father Terry Brenon officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, prior to the Mass at the church.

Shorty is survived by Felix Ramirez, her loving husband of over 60 years; daughter Melinda Baker and husband Alan of Bridgeport, Texas; brother Edward Sandoval, III of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother-in law John Greene of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren Austin Baker and wife Brittney of Ft. Worth, Texas and Mason Baker and wife Sidney of Bridgeport, Texas; great-grandchildren Alina Baker, Emma Baker and Andy Baker; nieces Julie Greene and Monica Gaetjens; nephew Pierce Sandoval and great-nephew Jaeha Ko. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Rosa Sandoval and Mary Ann Greene.
