Joe Wesley Norwood, age 89, of Brownwood, Texas, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

Joe was born on January 8, 1934, in Leonard, Texas, to his parents L. Z. and Helen Oneta Norwood.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech and proudly wore his college ring.  Joe served in the United States Army for 2 years.  He married the love of his life, Reta Joyce Drake, on June 27, 1964, in Fort Worth, and they began their life together.  After 36 years of working with the Texas Highway Department, Joe retired and went to work for two successive civil engineering and design firms.  He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed country living, wildlife & raising live stock.

Joe is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Reta Joyce Norwood; his sister, Peggy Joyce Williamson, as well as many nieces, nephews, special friends and loving neighbors.

The family will hold a memorial service for Joe at a later date.
