The Brown County Water Improvement District notes that Lake Brownwood remains in Stage 2 of the Drought Contingency Plan as the lake level continues to fall.
As of 10:30 am Monday, March 27, 2023 Lake Brownwood was at 8 feet and 7 tenths below spillway or 59.7 percent of capacity. One month ago, the lake was a 60.6% of capacity so the lake is currently losing about 1 percentage point of capacity per month.
BCWID#1 is asking all customers to be mindful of wasting water.
Stage 3: Severe Drought Conditions begins when Lake Brownwood Hits 11’ below spillway.
BCWID#1 suggest to its customers not already doing so to restrict water from outdoor sprinkling, watering lawns, shrubs, driveways, and washing of automobiles to twice per week. The District will also suggest that customers employ “time of day” restrictions.
