She was born Mary Margaret Cheek on July 22, 1955, in Corsicana, Texas to Robert Cheek and Shirley Welty Cheek. With her father being a southern Baptist minister, Mary grew up in Baytown, Houston, Jasper, graduating from Jasper High School in 1973. It was there that she met the love of her life, Clifton Hebert, and they were married June 22, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in Jasper. Mary and Clif had a wonderful life together raising their three children. Being a wife and mother was the most important thing to Mary. It was her primary job and she was the best at it. Mary’s number one goal was taking care of her family. Preparing for the holidays was one of her favorite things. Mary also loved her siblings and enjoyed all the time she spent with them. She attended Abilene Bible Church and most recently Hopewell Baptist Church. Her love, grace, and wisdom will be missed.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Robert and Shirley Cheek.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton Hebert of Glen Cove; three children, Adam Hebert and wife April of Bullard, Emma Hebert and husband Albert Perez of Austin, and Hannah Johnson of Coleman; nine grandchildren, Noah Hebert, Stella Hebert, Elliott Hebert, Ezekiel Rios, Ezra Rios, Gage Hebert, Elias Perez, Ian Johnson, and Styles Johnson; two sisters, Ruth Plitt and husband Don of Bryan, Elizabeth Weaver and husband Terry of Jasper; five brothers, Paul Cheek and wife Charlotte of Tom Bean, Stephen Cheek and wife Bernadette of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, David Cheek and wife Sarah of Scotts Valley, California, Phillip Cheek of Jasper, and John Cheek and wife Jeanine of Elk River, Minnesota.
