The Brownwood Lady Lions maintained their firm hold on third place in the District 5-4A soccer standings with the two opponents ahead of them coming up next, thanks to Friday night’s 1-0 victory over China Spring at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The Lady Lions (12-3-1, 6-2) recorded the game’s only goal just 12:02 into the contest as China Spring (12-8-2, 3-5) fell victim to the 97th goal in the career of Kennedi Johnson.
The Lady Lions have a district bye Tuesday, then host Salado (19-2, 6-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3 and welcome Stephenville (14-0-1, 7-0) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7.
