Billy Roy McCorkle, age 67, died Monday, February 20, 2023, at his residence.
The family will host a visitation on Saturday, February 25, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating and Rev. Aaron Mitchell assisting. Interment will follow in the Silver Valley Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
Billy Roy McCorkle was born July 6, 1955, in Coleman, the son of Roy E. McCorkle and Billie Ruth Jamison McCorkle. He grew up in Coleman and graduated in 1973 from Coleman High School. He attended Tarleton University in Stephenville and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness. On August 31, 1974, he married Judy Corder in Coleman at Concho Baptist Church and they have celebrated 48 years of marriage. Billy was the owner/operator of McCorkle Monument Company in Coleman. He was involved in many activities with his children, including stock shows, coaching softball, baseball, and soccer, as well as being a shooting sports coach. He was a long-time member of Concho Baptist Church where he had previously served as a Deacon. Billy was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Judy McCorkle of Silver Valley; three children, Christi Northway and husband Scott of Coleman, Misti Shoemaker and husband Luke of Hamlin and Kelby McCorkle and wife Mylah of Ovalo; six grandchildren, Cayden Steffey, Connor Steffey, Jaylie Steffey, Brant Northway, Brady Shoemaker, and Kylee Shoemaker; one sister, Jami Burdick, and husband Randy of Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael Dane McCorkle and his grandparents, Manton and Julia Jamison and Ed and Oma McCorkle.
