Sandra Wilson, age 79, of Coleman, died Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Coleman County Medical Center with her family by her side.
The family will host a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 200 E. College Avenue, in Coleman with Randell Casey and Carl Desmuke, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the graveside service at First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 401 S. Colorado Street, in Coleman. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
She was born Sandra Kay Slayton on September 8, 1943, at the Overall Morris Hospital in Coleman to G.J. Slayton and Gladys Keeney Slayton. She grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman High School. Sandra worked in accounting and bookkeeping at Geo. D. Rhone Hardware, Bodoodle’s, and most recently Cyber Defenses from 2002 to 2022. She married Eddie “Bo” Wilson on August 16, 1974, in Durant, Oklahoma. Sandra was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coleman.
To know Sandra was to love her. Her bright eyes, smile, and big personality will always be remembered. Sandra was an avid reader and could read 10 to 15 books a week. She also enjoyed yardwork and playing games. Sandra had a competitive streak in her when it came to playing games. She was the first winner of the forty-two contest at the Cattle Drive Café, which she bragged about immensely. Sandra loved her family and friends. Her most cherished times were spent with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She loved them all and was proud of their accomplishments. She leaves an amazing legacy for her family to live by.
Preceding Sandra in death are her parents, G.J. and Gladys Slayton; her husband, Eddie “Bo” Wilson; two brothers, Kemp Slayton and G.W. Slayton; and three sisters, Louise Strength, Fredna Horton, and Irene Matthews.
She is survived by her children, Mindy Casey and significant other Dennis of Coleman, Randell Casey and wife Holly of Round Rock, Johnnie Casey and wife Tammy of Coleman, and Christy Gunter and husband Rollin of Rockwood; three step children, Leslie “Tiger” Wilson of Coleman County, Sherry VanPelt and husband John of Talala, Oklahoma, and Debra Urban and husband Allen of Coleman County; two sisters, Frances Smith of Lohn, and Delores Fenton of Johnson City; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hale, Josh Hale, Chase Avants, Nathan Casey, Johnnie “Trey” Casey, III, and Wesley Bo Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hurtado, Wes Tucker, Cody Self, Colt Bennett, and Brandon Fowler.
