
Edgar Dale Herring of Talpa, Texas was born November 20, 1931, in the Santa Anna hospital as the only child of Edgar Otto Herring and Cora Belle Dancer Herring.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 23, at 10:00 am at First Methodist Church in Ballinger.
He graduated from Talpa High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air force 1951-1955. He attended Tech Technological College 1955-1959 and obtained a BS degree in Animal Husbandry. Dale was a fourth-generation cattle and sheep rancher at Talpa.
Dale married Arletta Jane Sides of DeLeon, Texas on June 13, 1964. Dale and Arletta were active members of the First Methodist Church in Ballinger. Dale supported and participated in many Christian missions and community service activities as Texas Farm Bureau and Coleman County Water Supply Corporation.
He was a life-long practitioner of environmental stewardship in ranching, being awarded multiple Texas state-level conservation awards. He was a member of the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and an honorary director for life, in the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Arletta.
He is survived by son Andy Dale Herring and wife Kimberly Lynn Bartsch Herring of Franklin, Texas and daughter Angelita DeAnn Herring Stephenson and her husband Jerry Don Stephenson of Talpa. He is also survived by his grandchildren James Herring Stephenson of Stephenville, Sydney Renee Herring of Houston, Shelbi Paige Stephenson of Talpa, Cole Edward Herring of Fort Stockton, and Allie Dale Herring of Lubbock; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sherman and Joyce Sides of DeLeon, and nephews Bradley Sides and Brandon Sides.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Texas Boys Ranch are requested.
